Update Sync Failed Error 0x80131500 RRS feed

  • Hello I am getting update sync error 0x80131500. The updates becomes healthy state after go and reset the wsusutil but after couple of weeks or months I get the similar error again. I looked at the wsus sync log on the server and found this.

    Sync failures summary: SMS_WSUS_SYNC_MANAGER 8/10/2017 4:28:43 PM 6200 (0x1838)
    Failed to sync update 1e701fb2-97ae-4682-93c6-34ae2269dca2. Error: The Microsoft Software License Terms have not been completely downloaded and~~cannot be accepted.     Any input or help be appreciated.  I know there are many post regarding uninstall and reinstalling wsus.  I don't want to do that and I want to find permeant solution to this problem.

  • Have you tried imply going into WSUS, finding the update and selecting download EULA?

  • Please double check the WsusContent folder NTFS permission. Grant  the "Network Service" accountfull control on the directory and sub-directory. Then try sync again to see if this helps.

  • This worked for me on Server 2012 R2, I had to check my Content directory location and grant the Network Service full control to the WsusContent directory.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Update Services\Server\Setup - ContentDir=G:\WSUS
