Monitor File Size in Reliability and Performance Monitor RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I'm sure there used to be a counter in perfmon that allowed you to monitor the size of an individual file, however I can't find it in Server 2008. The reason that I need it is to monitor the growth of TempDB on a server running Microsoft SQL Server 2008.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks,

    Julia.

  • Hi Julia,

Based on the test, we can add the following performance counter to monitor the file size of TempDB on a Windows Server 2008 that is running SQL Server 2008.

"SQL Server: Database (tempDB)\Data File(s) Size"

Please note: this counter won't appear until we install SQL server entry on the Windows Server 2008 because the counter is provided by SQL Server.

    Hope it helps.
