Who are the Site Users in a Web Part Page? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

In a Project Site, I created  a new Web Part page in PWA 2010, then I added from the "Social collaboration" category, the "Site Users" WebPart.

In this Site Users list I find all the project resources who have a Windows account : normal, but there are also some users who are not resources in this project. Why are they listed here?

    Thanks

    Who are

  • Most likely, they are users with View Project Workspace assigned in one of the Categories.  See this Technet article for more details:

Sounds like you need to tweak your security settings to resolve the issue.

  • Thanks Andrew,

I removed the View Project Workspace  permission for such a "foreign" user: but he was still there.

I get him down in the RBS (he was at the upper level) and then he disappeared!

    I have to study that

    Thanks

  • Could be the My Organizations category.  Might want to check which ones the user is in.  You also may want to download and try out the 2007 View Effective Rights tool to see if that helps.

  • Does the 2007 View Effective Rights tool work on Project Server 2010?

  • Kind of sort of....I wouldn't count on it being 100% accurate, but it seemed to work the last time I tried it.
