I believe the issue might have been triggered by changes to some software settings while upgrading OS.
Try to narrow down problem using event viewer.
- Type the run command ‘eventvwr’.
- Under Windows Logs, check both application and system logs.
- Check the time when the system hangs and check if any error is logged in at that time.
- Click the error and check if it mentions about any software. This can even be an issue with incompatible driver.
- Re-configure or re-install the software should fix the problem.
Also keep an eye your security software. They are also possible culprits in this scenario. Hope this helps.
