Windows 8.1 hangs often RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys,

I updated my windows 8 to 8.1. After that i am facing lots of hanging problem. The process which is using more ram is hanging suddenly. But the entire ram usage is less 50%. I am facing these issues after i installed vmware workstation in my laptop. I have given 1 gb ram to that. And i am sure vmware process is not running when these hanging problem arises.  I have 6 gb of ram.

Why am i facing this problem ! How to resolve this ?

  • I believe the issue might have been triggered by changes to some software settings while upgrading OS.

Try to narrow down problem using event viewer.

    • Type the run command ‘eventvwr’.
    • Under Windows Logs, check both application and system logs.
    • Check the time when the system hangs and check if any error is logged in at that time.
    • Click the error and check if it mentions about any software. This can even be an issue with incompatible driver.
    • Re-configure or re-install the software should fix the problem.

Also keep an eye your security software. They are also possible culprits in this scenario. Hope this helps.
