Can't connect to the MDT DB with Powershell RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I found some nice PS cmdlet from Michael Niehaus.

I Set up MDT 2013 with an share and a DB. I tried to connect to the MDT DB running Connect-MDTDatabase on the same box where I have installed the SQL and MDT on.

    I run this commands:

    import-module .\MDTDB.psm1
Connect-MDTDatabase -sqlServer SQLSERVERNAME.DOMAIN.LOCAL –instance MSSQLSERVER -database MDT

    I got this error:
SQL Network Interfaces, error: 25 - Connection string is not valid.

What configuration do I have to do for the SQL server, MDT DB, and the MDT share?

  • Hi.

SQL Server Browser service must be running, and the Windows firewall configured to allow traffic to it. Port 1433 TCP and port 1434 UDP need to be opened for inbound traffic to the sqlserver.

I also believe you have to enable named pipes, but I am not 100% sure on that.
