DPM on application server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Currently I have an application (third party) running on PC1 that has SQL installed. And I tried installing DPM 2010 on the same machine. (Yes I know it’s not recommended but I was not informed about it.)
My question is when I install DPM on this application server what will happen to the existing SQL
instances (this will create a new instances but will this new instance effect the old one..?)
Reporting services( since the existing environment uses reporting services how will affect when DPM server trys to install its own reporting services..?)
     Other services.
pls inform me about this. Thank you

  • Hi

It could affect your application very negatively since your already run a SQL server on PC1. It's not a supported scenario to do such an installation (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff399554.aspx).

You should run DPM on a dedicated server OS, preferably Windows Server 2008R2.
