  • Question

  • Being in the education sector, we are concerned with all the word in regards to Windows XP End of Life as of April 14, 2014.  We were hoping to make it to this Summer 2014 before addressing the Hardware/Software issues.  So as a rural school district we are limited on funds and 95% of our are State donated computers are GX260-GX280's with Windows XP.  So as we continue to seek budgeting to replace the XP units, we would really like to get some firm information from Microsoft to what really is going to happen.

Does anyone have any links, phone numbers, etc. to share ?

    Thank you.

  • Windows XP will not receive any more security updates after April 14th 2014. This means, that the operating system will be exposed to several security issues, specially, if connected to the Internet. What you should do before April 14th, is to get yourself MS Security Essentials anti-virus software which will still receive updates after that day.

The information I have from my direct source is that you better get moving now.  The date will not change or be pushed back.  You have 5 weeks to get switched. What narcoticoo says is correct.
