How does FAST incremental crawl works RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Does FAST uses change log for incremental crawls?

Is there any reason why the incremental crawl uses change log rather than Audit logs which gives more information?

    Thanks

  • Regarding the first question, FAST (FS4SP) uses the same crawler as SharePoint internal search, so there is no difference in how this works crawler wise. The content is just routed to different repositories. And I think the SharePoint crawler in SP2010 is pretty much the same as it was in MOSS 2007.

As for why it uses change log and not the audit logs, I don't know enough about what either log contains to answer that.

You are really digging into these crawlers Carol :) Any particular reason why you are researching this so extensively besides curiosity?

  • Thanks Mikael for your response. That helped.

I am just curious to know about the crawlers and search engine stuff especially how the refresh functionality works.

    Thanks
