The operating system is not supported by this application

Question
-
Windows 10 Enterprise > IE 11
Hello: Not sure if this is a 365 or Windows 10 problem. The problem is when I go to the menu bar in IE 11 and select Page | Send link by e-mail... I get an error message "The operating system is not supported by this application" and then I click OK. With Windows 7 Enterprise there was an option to pick Outlook as my email app, but not in Windows 10 Enterprise. How can I make Outlook work as my default app? Thank you

Since you access office 365 in a browser you cannot set it as the default mail handler. In order to use "send to" you need to have a true email client like MS Office, Windows live mail etc.

Hello: We do have a true email client. This feature worked when we had Windows 7 Enterprise and since we upgraded to Windows 10, it stopped working.

Hi NFL1,
First of all, we could try to fix the present installation.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features\Right click the Office product\Change\RepairThen try to configure Office as the default product here.
Settings\System\Default apps\Email\Choose a default and choose Outlook as the defaultOf course, we could try to reset all configurations to default then configure it again.
Best regards

Hello: I have MS Outlook as a desktop application. I did run Office Repair and also made MS Outlook as my default mail handler. None of those fixes solved the problem.

Hi NFL1,
Have you tried to reset all configurations to default and configure it again?
If the issue persists, please try to work with another account or create a new account. There is a possibility that the present user account`s configuration has been corrupted.
Best regards

Hello: I did everything you suggested. I applied a reset to all configurations to default and reconfigured it again. I also removed my Windows profile and recreated it. Still have the same problem. I want to use MS Outlook 2016 (O365) to be my default email program which it shows. Internet Explorer is my default browser. I noticed when I open Set Program Access and Computer Defaults, I cannot keep Internet Explorer as my default web browser. Also there are no options to select your default e-mail program like it was in Windows 7 where you can select MS Outlook. Thank you for your help.

Hi NFL1,
"I also removed my Windows profile and recreated it."
I am referring to create a new one not just removing the present user profile." Also there are no options to select your default e-mail program like it was in Windows 7 where you can select MS Outlook. "
Try the option here. We could try to configure default program based on "file type or protocol".

Hello:
I did as you suggested. IE and Outlook both have every protocol selected. Also, they are both set as default programs. I'm not sure what else needs to be configured. Thank you.
