  • What is the difference BTW frontend server and normal server in Exch 2003 ?

    Yes, it can. You normally wouldn't allow connections from the Internet
    to directly connect to the BE servers, which is why you have FE
    servers. But clients on your LAN can connect directly to the BE
    servers.

  • Hi,

    When we talk about Exchange 2003, the main server roles are front end server and backend server. Front-end server accepts requests from clients and proxies them to the appropriate back-end server for processing. Backend server hosts the mailboxes.
