Windows 7 Service Pack 1 not available RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know that SP1 for Windows 7 was just released this week to manufacturing, however, I do not see it available in the SCCM software updates node. I have done several resyncs (which were all successful) but I do not see SP1.

Will SP1 for Win7 be made available at a later date for SCCM/WSUS?

  • It's not publicy available yet. Only MSDN, technet and volume license customers. It will not be in WSUS until it hits wndows updates. Also SCCM is not officially supported SP1 as a client yet either.

  • Thanks for the quick response, John!

SP 1 for Windows 7 *is* available via Windows Updates, but you have to manually choose to install it (optional). I take it that when it no longer optional,  it will be made available for SCCM/WSUS?

Also, you mentioned that SCCM does not officially support SP1 as a client as of yet. What exactly needs to take place for SP1 to be supported? Will with require a patch or add-on for SCCM?

  • Hello - Normally, it will take a while (1 or 2 months atleast) to add SP1 into official support list of SCCM as SP1 is just released.
