Hyper-V Instances go into Stopping-Critical State RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have had on-going issues where every time we restart one of our Hyper-V servers, it goes into a stopping-critical state until we kill the process. Once the process is killed, it takes about 30 minutes to an hour to completely turn off before it can be booted again. We have tried deleting and recreating servers but that has not been successful.

The server holding all the Hyper-V Instances is Windows Server 2012 R2, and so are the instances. We are currently looking into upgrading to Windows Server 2019, but we would like to confirm that this will solve our problems before we go ahead.

Does anybody have an idea as to why these VM's keep going into a stopping critical state?

    Thank you
