language to learn for FIM RRS feed

  • Question

  • Experts,

I am new to FIM and will soon be required to implement it for a client.

Till now I have worked on OIM where custom requirement were required to code in java.

I was wondering which language I should start learning while studying FIM as sooner or later I would need to code for custom requirements. I see many options(like c#, VB) and get confuse. Please share your views.

    Thanks, Mann

  • If you're familiar with Java then C# is going to be easier.

Assuming that your customer's developers will be maintaining the code after you leave, you should learn whichever language they are comfortable with (either VB.NET or C#). Additionally, a good solid understanding of PowerShell is useful, as is a good solid understanding of XPath.
