Windows 8.1 Update Error Code 800703F1

    Question

  • Hi,

I'm trying to install the following updates:

    1) KB3079777

    2) KB3061512

    3) KB3035583

    4) KB3038936

    5) KB3013769

However I'm receiving Error code 800703F1, I'm however able to install other updates, only these updates are troubling me. I wouldn't taken much attention to the above but since  'KB3035583' is an important update to upgrade to Windows 10, I need this to be fixed. I've tried to running the windows update troubleshooter, but it doesn't seem to resolve these issues permanently i.e if I run the troubleshooter again it will appear to resolve these issues again:

    1) Service Registration is missing or corrupt

    2) Windows Update error 0x80070057 (2015-08-17-T-09_47_50A)

    3) Problems installing recent updates

    Please help!

  • When updating Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, a windows key is not needed. You would run the Windows 10 setup from within Windows 8.1 and it will use the Windows 8.1 key automatically.

  • Hi Vikram,

You can refer to the following methods and check if any helps:
    1. Disable the anti-virus software on your PC

    2. Try to download these updates and install manually

    3. Try to reset Windows Update components

    4. Download windows 10 and use the tools on this page to create your own installation media using either a USB flash drive or a DVD.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Niko,

    Thank you for the reply.

Currently I'm not running any anti-virus software, I have tried disabling the windows defender just in case.

I tried using the 'Reset Windows Update components', but it gives the same result as the windows update troubleshooter

I also tried to install windows 10 manually however, it is not accepting my windows 8.1 key.

Do you think my system has been affected by virus? If so why am I able to download other updates, but not these?

    Regards,

    Vikram S

  • Hi,

I left out a few things, I tried installing these updates manually. I kept getting 'Installation failed' on all the updates.

Also, when I tried to get download windows 10 on the USB flash drive, I got  an error saying 'Something happened 0x80080005- 0x90016'.

Hence I had to go download windows 10 on another PC.
