Issue with Calendar permissions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

         A background on our environment.  At the moment we have an on-premises Exchange 2016 server at our one location.  Our 2nd location, the users are connected to location one via Outlook Anywhere.  Outlook opens and they can send and receive email without issue.

    The issue we are having is the users in location 2 can not add or delete events from a users shared calendar.  All users have publishing editor rights.  It always comes back that we do not have the proper permissions.  We have no issue when using OWA.  It is a mix of Office 2013 and Office 2016.

  • Does this issue affect all users in your environment?
    How about switching to Exchange Online mode and see if the issue persists?

    Besides, please try checking or unchecking the checkbox of “Download shared folders” via File > Account Settings > double click your account > More Settings > Advanced and see if there is any difference.

    It is also suggested to ask the owner of the calendar to remove the permission of a user and re-add it to see the result.

    Any update, please feel free to post back.

    Regards,

    Aidan Wang

  • I tried Exchange online mode and the issue remained.  The box was unchecked so I checked and the issue remains.  We have tried removing the calendar permissions and it did not resolve the issue.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your update.
    Given this situation, please try removing the permission of a user then assigning the permissions via Powershell.
    Notice: it can take few minutes and a reboot of Outlook before it works on the client.

    Please try my suggestion and let me know the result.

    Regards,

  •                 We did as you suggested.  We removed the permissions then re-added them via PowerShell.  Below is what we ran.  I changed the names to mask email accounts.  The Original Calendar User is the user who’s calendar we want to give access to.  The Recipient is the user that cannot add or delete appointments.  The issue still remains.

    Remove-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendar -User Recipeint

    Add-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendar -User Recipeint -AccessRights PublishingEditor

    Remove-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendar -User Recipeint

    Add-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendar -User Recipeint -AccessRights PublishingEditor

    Remove-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendar -User Recipeint

    Add-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendarr -User Recipeint -AccessRights PublishingEditor

    Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendar -User Recipeint

    Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendar -User Recipeint

    Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendarr -User Recipeint

    [PS] C:\Users\hladmin\Desktop>Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendar -User Recipeint

    FolderName           User                 AccessRights

    ----------           ----                 ------------

    Calendar             Recipeint             {PublishingEditor}

    [PS] C:\Users\hladmin\Desktop>Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendar -User Recipeint

    FolderName           User                 AccessRights

    ----------           ----                 ------------

    Calendar             Recipeint             {PublishingEditor}

    [PS] C:\Users\hladmin\Desktop>Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity Original Calendar User\Calendar -User Recipeint

    FolderName           User                 AccessRights

    ----------           ----                 ------------

    Calendar             Recipeint            {PublishingEditor}
