Exchange 2003 mailbox has 3 smtp adresses RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a mailbox with 3 distinct smtp adresses. the reason for this is they want 3 business partners to email a certain email address for this account. their hope was to then sort by the "to" field in this mailbox

the issue they encountered is that no matter smtp you send to, the to field is always the display name of the mailbox so they cannot decipher between which smpt address was emailed.

i did not come up with this solution, some high priced architect did and although i said this is how it works, they are looking for a worksround. can we somehow change the display name showing for each smpt address?

Answers

  • You could create three separate mailboxes and create rules or set alternate recipients to forward the messages to a fourth combined mailbox.
