Prevent C drive but allow exception

  • Hello All,

    I have developed a group policy for prevent access to C drive but now i want to add exceptions like %userprofile%\Documents and %userprofile%\OneDrive for my users  any idea how i can achieve that ?

    I would like to restrict access to to C drive to all my users by allow exception to access one drive and documents and also the Temp folders.

    %userprofile%/ Documents

    %userprofile%/ OneDrive

    And C:\temp   folder.

    Appreciate the help.

  • Hi,
    As far as I know, this could be done by changing folder permissions on the folders of C drive, there is no built-in policy settings to do via GPO.
    Alternatively, you could locate user profile folders into another drive, then use “Prevent access to drives from My Computer” policy setting to restrict accessing C drive. This policy is located under:
    User Configuration/ Administrative Templates/ Windows Components/ File Explorer
    Or
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer
