Basic Private Cloud RRS feed

  • Question

  • I agree the term cloud is thrown around and slapped on anything that is delivered via the Internet. From my data center I provide Exchange, Dynamics CRM & SharePoint to my users via the Internet. What is the difference between what I do with traditional infrastructure and what others define as cloud services that are fully virtualized?

Essentially, through a combination of virtual servers and traditional servers, I am delivering my critical business apps to the "cloud" for my users to consume am I not?

  • This should summarize what cloud Computing actually is: http://csrc.nist.gov/publications/nistpubs/800-145/SP800-145.pdf

In the Microsoft world, Windows Server, Hyper-V and System Center 2012 is the core Components to deliver cloud Computing internally - aka Private Cloud.

With SP1 and Windows Server 2012 support, you can also extend this by using SPF in Orchestrator to deliver cloud to everyone.
