Windows Security Center and Windows Firewall RRS feed

  • Question

  • In Windows XP you could use local group policy to grey out and disable the Windows Firewall so users could not mess with it. Is there a way to do this in Vista? Also I would like to disable the use of Windows Security Center as well. I know you remove the alerts it gives you, but I want to remove it all together, so users can't mess with it.

Hi Travis, thanks for the post. To disable Windows Firewall by using group policy, you can refer to the following article:

    Windows Firewall in Windows Vista

You can also disable Windows Security Center by using the following group policy:

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Security Center\Turn on Security Center (domain PCs only).

    Hope this helps!
