  • Hi Fellows,

Can any one help me with the exam 70-536.

I completed C#.Net,Asp.Net,Sql Server 2005 in a training institute. They suggested me to take exam 70-536.

I need to know exactly how many questions does this exam contain.

And I cannot afford for two books So.....please suggest me with only one book with which i can atleast qualify the exam.

And also let me know how many marks will be given for each question.

And also let me know the qualifying mark.

Are there any types in exam 70-536???

Am sorry for the trouble am giving to you.Thanking you

  • Hi

There is no exact number of questions but you can expect on average between 40 and 50 tho dont be surprised if you see less or more than this.

There is a training kit book from Microsoft which on Amazon retails for 44USD (http://www.amazon.com/MCTS-Self-Paced-Training-Exam-70-536/dp/0735626197/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1272278407&sr=8-1)

Additionally there are links in my signature that can help. While you dont need a book, it is handy to have one to help you structure your study plan.

The marking scheme is not disclosed by Microsoft but there is no negative marking so answer everything :)

The pass mark is 700 out of 1000 or 70%. Again with the marking scheme not disclosed, you cannot guess how many marks or the weighting on each question.

70-536 consists of only multiple choice questions in the form of pick one answer from 4 options or pick a multiple of answers from a larger number (eg pick 3 from 5 alternatives)

    And its no trouble :)

  • Thank You Mr.Niall Merrigan

But i have one more question for you,i wanted to know that the questions will be in C#.Net or Vb.Net or i need to pick it up during the exam.

Will the book suggested by you cover all the syllabus or i need to go through any other books.

  • You get to choose at the start of the exam which language you want to get the code samples in. In 70-536 there is an option of C#, VB.NET or Visual C++.NET

Book wise, I always suggest supplementing it with other resources and there are plenty of good articles in the MSDN etc that will fill the gaps in the book. Also check my blog for a list of errata topics on that book.

  • ok,

I came to know that after passing the exam 70-536,i wont get a certificate rather i will get a scorecard and an email from microsoft.

    Is that true??

So even if i want to specify that i had qualified the exam, in my resume sort of thing then how can i do that...i mean in my resume how can i specify that i qualified for the exam.

Thank you for all that u have done.

  • That is correct. 70-536 does not provide a certificate on its own. You will need to do one more exam get your MCTS.

You can however say you have passed this exam and your offficial transcript can be used to show this.

At the end of the exam, whether you pass or not you will get a score on screen and print off of that score. If you pass you will get access to the MCP site (https://mcp.microsoft.com/mcp) where you can get a copy of your transcript and also make it available online.

You can also use the MCP Business Cards (http://www.mcpvirtualbusinesscard.com/) which you can show on your website emails etc.

  • By passing that one exam you do not get a credential so you cant add an additional title to your name. You can howver say in your resume that you have passed that exam

  • Hello,

1/ By definition, Microsoft Certification Exams are intended to be taken by professionals having about 2-3 years of industry experience and are not targetted towards freshers. To the best of my knowledge, there is no certification program for freshers by Microsoft.

2/ This may not be a right forum to ask .NET related questions.

    Hope it helps!

  • Hi  Shivanand_live:

for as long as you understood the topics and be able to apply your knowledge in the (.net) programming i think you have a chance in passing the 70-536 exam with the proper additional resources such as.

    • Self-Paced Training kit: -TS: 70-536 Microsoft (.NET) Framework Application Development Foundation- 2nd Edition
    • Practice Test

    Goodluck on the 536 -)
