Incorrect delete project server PWA RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

We install Project Server 2010, but after that accidently delete all Project databases. After that we recreate PWA with other name's of databases. Now we have a lot messages about failed connections to old databases. How we can fix it?

  • Hi Matrenin--

After the PWA instance is deleted. databases in SQL Server will not be deleted. You may need to Delete the database manually. As a good practice, It should be done manually before creating a new application for the PWA server.

  • Hi,

To understand correctly after you accidently deleted all the Project Server database did you remove the PWA instance? When you recreated the PWA did you use the old PWA to reprovision or a completely new PWA instance?

In a case like this it is better to remove the PWA instance and recreate it with the new databases. This to remove any unwanted connections to old DB's.

    With Kind Regards,

  • You probably need to use PowerShell in this case.

    Take a look at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee890097.aspx

You might be able to retreive (Get-SPProjectWebInstance) and delete (Remove-SPProjectWebInstance) the orphaned PWA instance.
