Bug with v4.25 - Custom User Defined Field types not working (Works in v4.20) RRS feed

  • Question

  • When you create a new Custom User Defined Field in BGinfo v4.25, the Name (Identifier) is added to the Fields list and will display the correct info on the desktop if applied.

However if you reopen the .bgi to edit it, the Custom Fields are disappear from the Fields list and if you click OK or Apply, the wallpaper will no longer display the value from these fields.

    Custom Field types affected:

    • Version information for a file
    • Registry value
    • Registry value (64-bit registry view)
    • Time stamp of a file
    • WMI Query

If you create the same fields using v4.20, the values will be retained when you re-open the bgi file.

  • FYI I had to get rid of some WQL SELECTs that had wildcard "LIKE" clauses in them. I don't have a great deal of experience with this area (at least not recently) I removed the offending custom field that was knocking out the others that came after it in the file and eventually tweaked the call to retrieve the right data without the extended WHERE. YMMV
