TotalDeletedItems continues to Grow - Outlook 2007 clients - Exchange 2010 SP1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • The TotalDeletedItems count continues to grow even though the default retention for deleted items is 14 days.    It seems items are not automatically leaving the Recoverable Items area.  There are no quotas on the database or mailbox but I expect the TotalDeletedItems count to drop at some point.  This is a new installation and has been operational for about 60 days so it's been more then enough time for items to start being deleted.  I saw where Exchange 2010 SP1 RU3 was supposed to fix a similar issue for Mac clients.    Any assistance on what I should do?

    Thanks,

     Michael

  • Do you have mailbox store maintenance scheduled to run?  Is there anything in the event log during the scheduled mailbox store maintenance period?

Are your databases configured to NOT permanently remove items until a
"normal" (i.e. full) backup has successfully completed? Have you made
    such a backup?
