Windows 10 Administrative Templates

    Question

  • I would like to control some Windows 10 settings using group policy and found the 'Administrative Templates (.admx) for Windows 10 download. There are two files: Windows10_Version_1511_ADMX.msi and Windows10-ADMX.msi. Can you please explain why there are 2 files, and if I need them both? Should I install these templates in a central store?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

Based on my research, the Windows10-ADMX.msi is for Windows 10 build 10240 and Windows10_Version_1511_ADMX.msi is for Windows 10 build 10586. If the Windows 10 computers in the environment are Windows 10 1511, I suggest you install Windows10_Version_1511_ADMX.msi.

And please install the template in a central store, after that, we can create a GPO to manage the Windows 10 in your environment.

  • Does Microsoft have one for Windows 10 version 1607? I did not see one listed in downloads.

    Thanks
