Can remote users download from Microsoft direct when not on LAN? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I needs users that work from home or on slow links to download direct from Microsoft, but based on our approval list, how can I do this? I've seen this option on our WSUS 2016 server, but it's grey'd out?

Any advise would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Thanks, didn't really but thanks.

I just need a method to update the remote users better.  I had a user that had been working from home for a while and then came into a remote office that had a slow link to our HQ where our WSUS server is and it saturated the VPN link they where on for hours.

If they could download via Microsoft instead that would be great.

    Thanks

  • Hi Sir,

Unfortunately , there is no build-in feature to achieve this .

You may consider using script to check the network state and change windows update configuration for remote user .

    Best Regards,

    Elton

  • I guess I could put the WSUS server on the DMZ and open the ports?
