Issue with Installation of Office 2016 - Windows installer has stopped working RRS feed

  • Dear all,

    I'm trying to install Office 2016 with a configuration file (.MSP). The customization works fine.

    My issue is when MDT install the application, it install normaly (Excel, word, etc... opens normally). But I get an Windows Installer error... When I do it manually it works fine.

    The problem signature :

    Quiet install commande : setup.exe /adminfile 0_HEC_Config.MSP

    Working directory : .\Applications\Microsoft Office 2016 Professional

    Does anyone have an idea ?

  • When you install office and create a customization file, all you need to do is save it in the Updates folder of Office. Use a filename of 1_Filename.msp so that it is processed first, although it might be the only file in Updates for 2016.

    Your install command will only need to be "Setup.exe" no need to specify the msp file. Make sure permissions are properly set as well.

  • Also, what is installing BEFORE office? Windows can only process one msi instance at one time. If an install is occurring before office it has to FINISH first otherwise you will get an error!

  • True, but I think 1608 is the MSI error code when another installer is running.
