Security Assessments anyone? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello MAP Community -

I'm Rob Polly, a program manager on the MAP team.  Right now, the team is sharpening their pencils to come up with a set of compelling assessments that will help you assess your environment in terms of security.

In MAP 3.1, we released a worksheet within the Windows Vista Hardware Assessment that tells you which Windows client machines are not running Windows Security Center, Antispyware, Antivirus and Firewall products.

What I'd like to know is "Where do you need our help?"

We are looking at adding an additional piece of logic in our next release that also provides you with machines where antivirus and antispyware products are out of date, but where else can we assist in terms of security?

Here are few items that we have heard about and are discussing.
    • How valuable is an assessment that helps you determine if you are ready for Network Access Protection (NAP)?
    • Are there specific security baselines that you would like to see MAP assess against?
    • Would you like to see MAP integrate with information provided in the Solution Accelerator Security Guides?  If so, which ones? (e.g. Office Security Guide, Windows Vista Security Guide, Windows Server)
    • Any others we haven't mentioned?
Do these resonate with you?  Are Security Assessments valuable to you in the context of MAP?

Thanks so much for your input.  Looking forward to hearing from you.
