After updates/reboots, the UAG Web Monitor requires a login, but fails with 401 errors RRS feed

  • Question

  • After updating the UAG, we can't get the Web Monitor to run.  It is now requiring a login BUT always fails with a 401 error - even logged into the UAG with accounts that have administrator privs.

Looked at the event logs, but there is no obvious clue as to why and where it is failing.

    Thanks for any direction.

The problem (?) was that IE 9 tools/internet options/security/custom level/user authenticatiion needed to be changed for user authentication to use the current user name and password when starting up.  The default is "Automatic logon only in Intranet zone".

  • FYI:

Everything else seems to work fine - all the trunks work, including the ADFS2.0 and OpenAM Federated login trunk accessing SharePoint 2010 with claims-based authentication.
