Task Manager disabled each time on boot up RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all

I have laptop running Windows 7 as a client to Server 2008.

The issue is the Task Manager is disabled due to a Virus but programs are not finding a virus, Super Spyware, Trend Micro are not finding anything.

When looking at regedit, it states DisableTaskMgr =data 0x00000002 (2)

After removing this and then running spyware, its clean however upon reboot its back in Regedit straight away.

    Any suggestions please peeps?

    Thanks

  • Hi MarkT67,

Have you check the value “Disable TaskMgr” in these following keys below?

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

    HKEY_USERS\.default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

If you find it, delete it.

Then we could use the command “sfc /scannow” to repair the system files to check.

If the issue still insists, I suppose the Virus may change some files. I suggest that we could try to use the system restore to get an earlier state.

Hope it will be helpful to you
