Mail show as sent in Sent Items but receiving parties receive at much later time RRS feed

  • Question

  • User sent out a mail in 2pm (mail was in Outlook Sent Items showing the time as 2pm).

All receiving parties received the mail at 5pm.

Trace from our 3rd party email filtering service and O365 show that the mail sent at 5pm.

As the delay in receiving causes client complaint, user is demanding some explanation.

Could I seek your advice and assistant what could be the possible causes on this? Can't seem to find any log/trace to show that the mail really leave user's Outlook client or computer at 2pm. Other then the mail in Sent Items which show 2pm.

    Thank you for the help.

  • Hi wfloke,

Does this issue only occur to this particular mail?
Do these "All receiving parties" share a same mail sever?

As far as I know, the time stamp means the time sent from the sender's sever. Have you tried any troubleshooting steps which might be helpful to narrow down the issue?

Besides, it is recommended to have a look at the time in the message header of the mail.

Any findings, please feel free to post back.

    Best regards,
    Yuki Sun
