Share tape library with veritas RRS feed

  • one of our customer currently using veritas for their backup purpose.now he wants to use dpm 2010 also,can we share the tape library with dpm 2010 and veritas.

    No because dpm does not really care or know if it's a dedicated library or a logical partition of a library. DPM is going to want exclusive access to the library devices (medium changer and tape drives) as seen by Windows in device manager.

    The only way to share a tape library with another application is to hardware partition the tape library so you have two logical libraries. You allow DPM to use one logical library and the 3rd party to use the other logical library. Review your manufactures documentation to see if hardware partitioning is possible.
