How to Hide Office 365 Group Management from Outlook Pro plus RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Team,

We have started migrating the mailboxes to Exchange online. And we see the Office 365 groups are now available in Outlook Pro plus.

Our management does not wants to show that Group management tab in Outlook Proplus and requests to hide it from Outlook.

There are some options to hide from OWA through policy, but we really need it from Outlook as well. Please help.

    Regards, Ghouse

  • Hi Ghouse,

Unfortunately, there is no setting in Outlook side to hide all Office 365 Groups.

As a workaround, we can set the AccessType parameter for Office 365 group to Private. The AccessType parameter specifies the privacy type for the Office 365 Group. Valid values are:

Public   The group content and conversations are available to everyone, and anyone can join the group without approval from a group owner.
Private   The group content and conversations are only available to members of the group, and joining the group requires approval from a group owner.

If we set an Office 365 group as Private. Only the group members can view this group in Outlook 2016 and OWA. We can use Set-UnifiedGroup cmdlet to modify Office 365 groups in your cloud-based organization.
