meeting marked as tentative Exchange 2010

    Question

  • I am in the process of a domain migration and am running into a common issue in that my meeting requests for a room are marked tentative and no auto response is sent to trusted domain.

I have configured a receive connector to externally secured with exchange server permissions and the issue persists. If I look in the tenative room mailbox I see my meeting request processed and moved to the deleted items folder but no response is sent.

All users from trusted domain have contacts setup on the exchange 2010 that houses the resource mailbox. My room is set to processexternalmeetingrequests.

If I go into the room mailbox and accept the meeting the auto reply comes through to my user in separate domain.

If I book the room with an email acct on the same domain the meeting is processed immediately.

  • Hi,

Based on your description, I know that resource mailbox not auto response the meeting request send from trusted domain's user.
If I mislead your concern, please feel free to let me know.

By default Exchange resource mailbox not permit external senders to make bookings. However, you can configure mailbox settings to achieve this:
    1. Ensure "ProcessExternalMeetingMessages" is True.
    2. Need a contact in AD with an alias, because Exchange need to lookup the GAL to obtain the email address present in AD, then send the response message.
Please note: this change will enable the processing of external meeting requests, but the meeting request is still subject to being accepted/rejected based on availability of the room and any other booking policies you have configured.

For your question, please run below command to check the setting of resource mailbox:
    Get-CalendarProcessing room1 | FL Identity,AutomateProcessing,AllowConflicts,*external*,*policy*

  • The settings provided were already verified to be in place. The room still does not reply automatically to room requests for users in my trusted forest.
