    I have set up an gpo to fix internet explorer as default browser in windows 10.

    So I have taken a application association through dism command and used the below link.

    .url=InternetShortcut
    C:\Users\Don>ftype InternetShortcut
    InternetShortcut="C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe" "C:\WINDOWS\system32\ieframe.dll",OpenURL %l

  • Hi Arindam,
    Before we go further, please run gpresult /h command to view the group policy report if the GPO is applied successfully on the clients.
    If the GPO is not applying, you could check the following article for common reasons to try troubleshooting:

    Best regards,

  • Hi Don,

    Thank you so much. I have updated the xml file .url association from internet browser to Internet Explorer and it did the trick.

    <Association Identifier=".url" ProgId="IE.AssocFile.URL" ApplicationName="Internet Explorer" />

    Thanks,

    Arindam
