Exchange 2007 Error message delayed 400.4.4.7 then NDR 4.4.7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi
Just put in SBS 2008.  We are having problems sending e-mail to one external e-mail domain.
When sent to this domain messages remain in the queue with error message delayed 400.4.4.7, eventually rejected with NDR and 4.4.7 QUEUE.Expired.

It appears only to be happening to this one domain. Other e-mails to external domains go no problem.  We are able to send to the 'troublesome' domain from other e-mail systems/networks

Our user receives an e-mail from the server

    Generating server: ourserver.ourdomain.local

    lorraine@troublesome domain.

  • Check your DNS servers (as in what DNS servers your mail server is pointing to). They need to BOTH be in the domain with your mail server (or if there is only one in your domain, there should only be one entry pointing to the one in your domain with the mail server). At least that solved my problem...

  • Hi Chucklz,
Can you give here brief details, as i understood you meant to say...
if i have separate dns server with ip 10.1.1.1 and Exchange server 10.1.1.2.In that case i have to point Dns in Exchange 10.1.1.1 to relay the mail. That is obvious things which we must do.Correct me here if i am wrong.
    Looking for precise response.

    Thanks

  • Here i have solved my problem while doing some basic things :-

    1) First i have checked,Am i able to telnet their (remote server) port like 25 or 587.

    2) if not then it is sure they have blocked or greylist your mail server IP.

i have found every time remote domain has graylisted my ip not intentionally but they guys are using some spam filter mechanism like Ironport or other Antispam filtering system.

So finally i talked to remote domain admin and get it resolved.

Please check the same for your domain as well and i m sure it will definitely give you help.

Let me know if this cann't help you out.

  • check your DNS servers Forwarders.  Make sure you are using Root Hints if your Domain Controller is set in your root domain.  The forwarders tab should be blank and the check box "use root hints if no forwarders are available."  If you are pointing to your ISP's DNS, it could slow the resolve of the reciever.  Remove any servers in that box if there are some.

    Keep me posted

Do u have SPF record for your domain, if not please create it, it will solve your problem else talk to remote domain admin might be they have blocked ur ip.

  • Use this to create the SPF record

    http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/safety/content/technologies/senderid/wizard/

Then go to www.mxtoolbox.com to verify your domain and SMTP server
