BSOD during Setup of VistaX64 on a DELL Optiplex GX740 RRS feed

  • Question

  • During Setup of Windows Vista x64 on a DELL Optiplex GX740 i get a BSOD with the following STOP-Codes:

    STOP: 0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF8000185E251, 0xFFFFF98000C54E58, 0xFFFFF98000C54830)

I tried already nearly everything. Implemented the newest DELL driver into the WIM, Updated BIOS, Disconnected every USB device (mouse and keyboard) etc. Nothing worked.

No matter which medium I use (WDS, MSDN DVD, self burned DVD).

The Vista x86 installs well. But since I have 4GB of RAM I want to use the x64 version.

I have no problems installing Vista x64 on an Optiplex 620.

Does anybody have further ideas how I can successfully install Vista x64 on an Optiplex 740?

    Any suggestions are welcomed.

  • I am having the same issue with Vista 64-bit DELL Dimension E521.

    Please advise.

  • The setup is now running. I injected the actual audio driver for the GX740 into the WIM (I did that befor but had no luck).

I'm running now further tests if this behaviour is now stable or not.
