Move WAIK install to new drive? RRS feed

  • Question

  • On our MDT 2012 deployment setup we have Windows on C, WAIK 2.0 on D and our Deployment Share on E.

The D drive containing the WAIK installation files is going away and we are getting a new drive E in its place.

Can we simply uninstall WAIK and reinstall it on the new E drive or do we have to reinstall other parts of MDT if WAIK is moved?

Can we move from WAIK 2 to WAIK 3 or do we need to install the same version of WAIK?

  • I have never installed the WAIK/ADK on any driver other than the default C:. So as far as I know you are already in uncharted territory.  As for switching out WAIK versions, MDT should be smart enough, the only way to know is to try out.

  • If it worked fine on D, it should also work fine on E.  It has been on D from the beginning.  WAIK was never on the C drive on this installation.

The problem I'm worrying about is if making a change to any new drive letter after MDT has already been in use will break it.
