Require collumn information on document creation or upload

    Question

  • I have a document library. I have created collums in that library. For example a choice collumn 'customer'. Every document added to this library is related to a customer. After adding the document i can edit the properties and choose the right customer for that document.

    What i would like is, that on upload, or on document creation from the library (new button), that the collums have to be filled in immediatly. Is this possible?

    Back in the days with WSS3.0, i remember that cullums could be filled in immediatly above the document in the MS Word application. I'm looking for something like that.

  • Go to the library settings >> Advanced settings >> Allow Management of Content Types >> Set it Yes >> OK

    That's it, every time when users upload the document will presented with the form to fill in the properties.

  • Does this only work when using the upload button? Or can it work using the 'new' button as well somehow?
