How to fix Permission Denied when opening Authenticator app on Android RRS feed

  • Question

  • After the latest update to the Android app (6.5.15), I can no longer launch the Authenticator app. When I tap the app icon I get a popup that says Permission Denied. This happens on both my Android devices, but the app still works fine on my iPhone. The Android devices are stock Samsung devices that are not rooted or modified in any way. The devices are a Note 9 and a Tab S5e LTE.

I've rebooted both devices and the problem still exists.

I made sure all permissions that show up in the permission screen were granted. I would try reinstalling it, but the uninstall button is grayed out.

Please help! I need to use this app to authenticate to my work O365 and I work remotely.

  • If you can activate the authenticator from the Apps Drawer and the Play Store screen, then remove the icon on your desktop and redeploy.
