Reinstate Vista Restore Points? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to get a Vista Home Premium Packard Bell PC up and running again. I've tried every repair option on the Vista recovery disc with no luck, as System Restore seems to have been turned off a couple of months ago. The HDD has been virus and malware checked outside of Windows and is clean.

I have however been able to data recover several large files (some in excess of 3GB in size with long alpha-numeric filenames enclosed in {these type of brackets}. Outside a Windows environment I've placed these in a new folder named System Volume Information, but when booting the Recovery disc the System Restore option cannot 'see' them.

Are there any further steps (log files/registry keys/offerings to the gods/etc) that I can do to make those files become available in the recovery disc environment?
