DPM 2016: Nano Server (Hyper-V)

Question
-
I am in the process of upgrading DPM to Server 2016 and upgrading our Hyper-V Hosts to Windows Server 2016. Microsoft has been stating that Nano server is THE way to deploy Hyper-V now in 2016...however I am not seeing a DPM 2016 agent for Nano server to be able to backup the VMs? Dose anyone know how to solve the issue of backups in regards to Hyper-V Nano Server hosts? Thanks!Thursday, October 20, 2016 8:54 PM

Hi,
DPM 2016 cannot protect VMs deployed on Nano Hyper-V. DPM 2016 can protect VMs deployed on Full Server or Core Server.
Thanks

Hello,
DPM 2016 doesn't support Nano Servers, hence, will not recognise and back them up.
Thanks!

Hey,
im having the same problem.
I have my new Hyper-V failover cluster made with 4x 2016 nano servers and feels kinda funny that Nano Servers isnt supported like it should be the next big thing.
This is the only problem for me right now that i cant bring them in production.
Seems like Nano Server isnt ready for production, like the powershell script for MPIO what shows that the things arent ready yet. Little dissapointment.
Think i will roll my Nano Server to full 2016 servers and switch back when all is working. Including Azure Backup and DPM.
Thanks

Thanks for the replies and official answer! That is very unfortunate as this basically makes Nano server useless in production at this point...I agree it does seem Nano server is not yet ready for prime time if even MS own products can't support it...despite all the marketing materials...thanks everyone!Monday, October 24, 2016 1:02 PM
