Inactive Resources in Project Server 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a project in Project Server 2013. When I open the project in MPP, I receive the following message:

" This project has inactive enterprise resources with remaining work.

    Inactive enterprise resources such as:

    Resource Name

have remaining work in the project. Inactive resources will be unable to report status so their remaining work should be assigned to active resources."

But when I open the plan I do not see this resource in Resource sheet.

Please let me know how to resolve this.

  • Hi

The warning message tells you that your project contains Inactive resources that have Remaining Work. The only possibility of getting rid of  the warning message every time you open the project is to do one of the below:

    • Set the Remaining Work to 0h on every task the Inactive resource is assigned.
    • Replace the Inactive resource with an active resource on every task where the Inactive resource has Remaining Work greater than 0h.  You can use the Assign Resources dialog to speed up this process.

As for resources, check if you have applied a filter on Active resources.

  • Hi,

I did not apply any filter.

I can not see the inactive resource in my project.

  • Hi,

You can see them if when I open up the resource pool I select the "Include Inactive Resources"
and then hit the "Apply Filter" button to the right of that box.If you were not doing this, then try this out.

  • Here are some things to check

    1) You may not have permission to look at the resource (ie. its based on RBS)

    2)  Be sure all the filters are no on.

    3)  THe view may have a filter on it and thus you may have to work with PWA administrator

    4) Can you see the resource if  you went to SERVER SETTINGS/Manage users
