Silent parameter to use in FirstLogonCommand in OOBE pass RRS feed

  • Question

  • what parameter can I use so that pop-up window stating windows activated successfully doesn't show and make me hit ok after I login? I put the below CommandLine script

in OOBE > FirstLogonCommand > SynchronousCommand so it is working but a window pops up.

       -CommandLine: C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs /atothanks,

  • Hi,

You should be able to use:

    -CommandLine: C:\Windows\system32\cscript.exe C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs /ato

Other than this guidance, this is not really a scripting question but actually an OS deployment question that should be asked in a more appropriate forum.

  • Thanks Bill.

    1. But would I just be able to combine in to one like:
    "C:\Windows\System32\cscript slmgr.vbs /ato"?
    2. Also, no silent parameter is needed if I run what you mentioned?. My apologies, let me know if I can move this somehow to the appropriate forum, thank you.

Not unless cscript.exe is the default script host. Give both a try and see what happens.

The idea of the command line I suggested (run with cscript.exe) is to run the slmgr.vbs script from a console window. This should allow it to run and complete without displaying a message box.

  • Update: My solution was to add FirstLogonCommand in my unattend.xml file and add 3 SynchronousCommands under that.

    1 to activate windows = C:\Windows\system32\cscript.exe C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs /ato

    2 to ReArm Office = C:\Windows\Setup\Scripts\OfficeReArm.cmd

    3 to Activate Office 2013 = C:\Windows\Setup\Scripts\OfficeActivation.cmd
