Find key value then backup and delete parent key. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to know how I can search for a key value, export the entire parent key to a .reg file and then delete the entire parent key in the registry.

I am working on a script that manually uninstalls a program that we've been having issues with. All the registry entries are known except one and it differs based on the version installed. The script backs up every key to a .reg file before deleting it and I'd like to do that for this key for the sake of conformity. I am able to find the value but I can't figure out how to delete the parent key and export it to a .reg. The key value is located with a sub-folder of the parent key. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
