New IP PBX for SMB RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings, Im hoping someone with an in-depth understanding of IP Telephony can help me out here.  My company is in the process (Yours truly leading the charge) of evaluating a new solution to replace our existing 3Com NBX IP Telephone system.  The Specs of our Network (in general) are .. Four Branch locations all connected via a MPLS cloud with about 100 endpoints or users to support.

We have narrowed down the search to two possible Systems:

    The ShoreTel Enterprise Telephone System

    Mitel 3300 Telephone System

We identified and procured the bells and whistles of both systems for the proposals, however I was hoping someone could provide me with some overall opinions of both systems.

We have both VAR’s at level ground regarding pricing, and both systems seem like they will do what we need them to do from a feature standpoint.

Some insight as to strengths and weaknesses from both will go along way helping us make our decision.

    As always….Thank you in advance.

  • Interesting. This is a Microsoft Lync Forum focused on the Entperise Voice features of Microsoft's UC products. Not sure your going to find the vendor specific expertise around these two platforms you where hoping for here, although I am sure there are many Microsoft parnters out there that have knowledge of these two systems. I would suggest a more generalized forum and not one that is specific to just one vendor which neither of your two choices belong to. Had Lync been on your list of contenders it may have been quite a different answer. But I guess I need to ask the obvious question why isn't Lync on your list?

    Good luck in your search.

I apologize... I was looking for a more appropriate forum for general IP telephony, but could not find one.

Perhaps I should remove my post and try elsewhere.

Mods - feel free to delete my post.

  • Olblueeyz,

The users in this forum could save you from future Mitel and Shoretel headaches and money by walking you through deploying Lync as your phone system.  We highly recommend it!

  • I appreciate your comments, however we have already decided to go with a prepackaged solution from one of the previous mentioned solutions.  I was hoping to get the thoughts and opinions of those solutions here in the telephony forum.  Apparently, i asked in an exclusive Lync forum (my bad)...

So at this point I doubt we will start over and look at all the available options out there... Thank you however for the time.
