Slowness - Windows\Temp RRS feed

  • Question

  • Working in an enterprise environment I have some technicians stating systems are slow when loading pages in IE and searches in Outlook are slow as well (full 4.0 search installed Office 2010).  They have stated they find the issue is our users do not have write and delete access to C:\Windows\Temp.

Most of our users are not administrators of their systems so they have the default settings to Windows\Temp:

    Traverse Folder/Read Data
    Create Files/Write Data
    Create Folders/Append Data

When the techinician gives the users full rights to Windows\Temp its speeds up and the issues seem to resolve.

They want us to give the users full control to this folder.  Is there any need for users to have more than the above rights to this folder?  I am dealing with 15,000 workstations and the issue I have been told (slowness) started slowly about two months ago and is now almost daily.  One system I looked at was a new unit with a clean image less than a month old.
