Program Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • Within the admin console a setup an account and have no programs blocked. However, I cannot access Microsoft Office in Start Menu, next I tried to create desktop shortcuts for office programs within that user's folder and they appeared and accessible but when I restarted computer they were gone again. I was wondering why I cannot create shortcuts or see these programs within Start Menu. I even tried lowering the security level to "Low" with no success. They are visible when logged on as administrator. Any ideas or settings I am missing perhaps?

    Thank you

  • Hi DSG, here is a workaround, you can try it and see the result:

Once you install Windows SteadyState, the profiles are fully restricted.  Go back into SteadyState and unrestrict all privileges. Log into the profiles, then delete all the icons on the desktop.  Then go to Programs and right-click on the icons and 'Send to' the desktop.  Once you place the icons you need on the desktop. Go back to SteadyState and lock up the profiles.  They will be on the desktop.

    Hope this helps!
