hyperlink to "place in document" list is clumsy when list of places is long RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am adding internal hyperlinks to a 600+ page word 2010 document. All of the headings are in the "places in document" on the hyperlink dialog, but the numbering is not with them. The list does not even default to being collapsed. It's very difficult to find the place to which I am trying to link. There is no way to sort those headers or an area to just type in the name. Are there any ways around this? Was this addressed in 2013?

  • Is there a particular reason for using Hyperlinks instead of Cross-references? The latter allows you to list by heading or numbered items.
