Lost "Local Security Policy" after uninstall of SteadyState RRS feed

  • Question

After uninstalling SteadyState, I have lost the "Local Security Policy" in my "Administrative Tools" in the "Control Panel" of both of my home computers. I am using a "verified" copy of XP on each with all of the current updates. Please advise as to how to get back. (On my main computer, I have lost the ability to place a "Turn Off Computer" button on my welcome screen.

  • Hi,

It seems these features have been disabled by SteadyState restrictions. As these restrictions were applied through group policy and registry changes, uninstall SteadyState will not delete these settings.

We need to uncheck all SteadyState restrictions before uninstalling SteadyState. Based on the current situation, the best manner is reinstalling SteadyState, uncheck all restriction and then uninstall SteadyState again.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,
