2012 R2 upgraded servers are not finding updates they should be finding RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a working implementation of WSUS. We upgraded two servers from 2012 to 2012 R2 and they aren't finding all the R2 updates they should be. The same updates that are getting installed on R2 servers that weren't upgraded are stating they are "Not Applicable" for these 2 servers. Anybody know about inherent WSUS issues when servers are upgraded? I'm concerned because it appears the new monthly rollup patches are not being applied.

    Thanks for the assistance.

  • Hi Justinller,

    1. On the "upgraded" Server 2012R2, please check if they can detect the updates from Microsoft Update;

    2. Please check if the following method could help:

    1) On the WSUS server, delete the two problematic clients;

    2) On the "upgraded" machines, reset the SUSClientID:

    In cmd, net stop wuauserv

    Delete the value in registry key " SusClientId " and "SusClientIDValidation" locates in:

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate

    In cmd, enter net start wuauserv, then, enter wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow and restart the machines.

    3. After reset SUSClientID, check if they can show up in the WSUS server again and report correctly.

    Best Regards,

    Anne
